SAN FRANCISCO—Analog chip vendor Micrel Inc. said Thursday (March 15) it signed a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling interesting in PhaseLink Co. Ltd., a privately held provider of high-performance integrated timing solutions to system and oscillator manufacturers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Micrel (San Jose, Calif.) said the intent of the acquisition is to complement its high-performance clock generation and distribution products for the communication market, as well as expand its offerings into the consumer and industrial markets. The transaction is expected to close in the current quarter, Micrel said.
PhaseLink’s Crystal Oscillator chips are targeted at high-performance communications and storage markets, according to Micrel. Its programmable clocks meet the needs of demanding consumer, mobile and industrial applications, the company said.
