NEW YORK -- NXP Semiconductor's management team saw more changes recently as its chief technology officer, René Penning de Vries, stepped down after residing with the company for more than 26 years.
The shakeup comes just months after the resignation of its chief financial officer, Karl-Henrik Sundström. A spokesperson for the company said that both departures were due to personal reasons.
"These are personal changes and they don't have anything to do with [financial] results whatsoever," he said.
NXP [Eindhoven, Netherlands], a leading manufacturer of high-performance mixed-signal and standard products, had a rocky start to 2012 with year-on-year quarterly sales and net income dipping sharply in the first quarter. On a non-GAAP basis, sales fell 9.6 percent to $978 million, while net income fell 59 percent to $48 million. The company is scheduled to release its second-quarter results on July 26.
NXP also appointed Sean Hunkler as executive vice president and co-general manager of operations effective July 16. Hunkler will take over for Peter Kelly, who is now NXP's new CFO. Along with Chris Belden, Hunkler will be responsible for all aspects of the company's global operations.
Hans Rijns, senior vice president research and development, will take over as interim CTO. An announcement of his successor is expected soon.
"The [management changes] don't have any consequences for our product or R&D roadmaps whatsoever," the spokesperson said.
