EDA firm gets funding after nine years

LONDON – Breker Verification Systems Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.), an EDA company that provides verification software for system-chips, has announced it has raised $5 million in Series A funding from Astor Capital Group.

Astor Capital Group is based in Singapore.

Breker was founded in 2003 by Adnan Hamid, who serves the company as CEO, and Maheen Hamid, who serves as CFO. Prior to this funding round the founders bootstrapped the company from a small initial round of angel investment.

That funding enabled Breker to release TrekSoC, software that automates the generation of self-verifying test cases for multi-threaded system-on-chip (SoC) devices. TrekSoC is in use at SoC design companies, including STMicroelectronics and Nvidia.

The series A investment will be used to pay for some more R&D and to expand sales and support.
