LONDON – Multimedia processor licensor Imagination Technologies Group plc has announced that is has licensed certain intellectual property from its Ensigma range of communications cores to fabless chip company Qualcomm Inc.
The Ensigma platform is based on the combination of the universal communications core (UCC) and the Meta multithreaded processor to provide a software programmable multi-standard, multi-stream for broadcast digital and mobile television and digital and FM radio. It also serves as a Wi-Fi transceiver.
Under the terms of its licensing arrangements, Imagination (Kings Langley, England) receives license fees and royalty revenues.
Qualcomm (San Diego, Calif.) is also a licensor of the graphics post-processing part of Imagination's PowerVR family of graphics IP.
