Cypress tips upgraded IDE for PSoC

SAN FRANCISCO—Cypress Semiconductor Corp. Monday (Aug. 20) rolled out a new version of the development environment for its PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 programmable system-on-chip families featuring more than100 new features and enhancements.

PSoC Creator 2.1
speeds digital designs by an average of over 80 percent, according to Cypress (San Jose, Calif.). The new development environment also simplifies analog designs and improves ease-of-use, according to the company.

PSoC Creator 2.1 allows users to configure PSoC programmable hardware into a custom one-chip solution, Cypress said. It includes a library of more than 75 fully characterized analog and digital components that users can drag-and-drop into a design and configure to suit an array of application requirements, the company said. Components integrate system interfaces and discrete ICs into a PSoC solution, reducing bill-of-materials costs and board-space, Cypress said.

"With PSoC Creator 2.1, we have greatly simplified analog design entry and increased the performance of programmable digital designs for our growing community of users," said Gahan Richardson, vice president of Cypress's platform PSoC business unit, in a statement.

More information about Cypress's PSoC Creator 2.1is available on the company's website.
